Director General of Health

YBhg. Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah is the Health Director-General of Malaysia. He is also a Senior Consultant in Breast and Endocrine Surgery in Hospital Putrajaya. He was recently appointed as the Chair of the Global Surgery Committee of the International Society of Surgery (ISS). Prior to this, he was the first Malaysian to receive recognition when he was elected to be part of the Executive Board of ISS as Councillor at Large during the 47thWorld Congress of Surgery General Assembly 2017.

A Masters in Surgery and Medical Doctorate degree holder from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah later trained as a breast and endocrine surgeon in Australia where he received his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He obtained his Fellowship from the Academy of Medicine Malaysia in 2004 and later, an Horonary Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians in London.

Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah also initiated Talent Grooming Programme (TGP) for Technical Healthcare Professionals to raise future healthcare leaders in the Malaysian health sector. He is also actively involved in the World Health Organization (WHO) as a representative for the WHO Western Pacific Regional Office for the Working Group on Strategic Budget Allocation.

Apart from his significant role in the ministry and international medical organizations, his name has been in print in many medical textbooks and international journals.
